Overview
The Wishlist in Exxat One is how your school collects your placement preferences for upcoming clinical rotations. Your school sets up the Wishlist using information from Exxat Prism and decides when it opens and closes, how many preferences you can choose, and which opportunities are available to you.
You will only see opportunities that match your rotation dates and meet your school’s requirements. Once you submit your preferences, schools use your rankings to decide which placement requests to send to clinical sites.
Make sure you submit your Wishlist before it closes, as placements are requested based on the preferences students provide.
Accessing My Wishlist
When you log in to Exxat One, a new menu option is available on the left navigation panel:
- My Schedules
- My Wishlist (new)
Select My Wishlist to begin submitting your preferences.
My Wishlist Overview
The My Wishlist page provides a consolidated view of all wishlists assigned to you.
At the top of the page, you’ll see:
- A short description indicating that this page is used to submit preferences for upcoming clinical rotations
- Below that, a count of:

This opens the wishlist submission flow.
School Instructions (Before You Begin)
Before the wishlist submission flow starts, instructions provided by your school are displayed. These instructions are intended to guide you on how to evaluate and select availabilities.
The wishlist submission flow consists of three steps:
- Add Preferences
- Rank Preferences
- Review and Submit
Wishlist Header Information: At the top of the Wishlist page, above the breadcrumb, students can view key details about the wishlist they are completing.
The header displays:
Wishlist Name – The name of the wishlist assigned to the course and rotation.
Closing Status – Indicates how many days remain before the wishlist closes
Course – The course associated with the wishlist.
Wishlist Open Date – The date when students can begin submitting preferences.
Wishlist Close Date – The deadline for submitting preferences.
Rotation – The rotation name and its scheduled date range.
Step 1: Add Preferences
In this step, you explore and select available opportunities.
Viewing Opportunities
You can view availabilities in two ways:
- Map View
- List View
You can switch between these views at any time.
Before selecting your preferences, you can use the available search and filtering options to narrow down availabilities based on location, specialization, state, or proximity.
Searching and Filtering Availabilities
To refine your results, you can use:
Search by location or address – Enter a specific clinical location or address in the search box to find matching availabilities.
Specialization filter – Select one or more specializations to view availabilities that match your area of study.
State filter – Filter availabilities by state to focus on a specific region.
A Reset option is available to clear applied filters.
- Nearby filter – Find availabilities near your school or within a specific zip code area.
Preference Limits
At the top of the screen, you’ll see:
Total Availabilities – Displays the number of availabilities currently visible based on the applied filters.
This count updates dynamically when filters are applied.
The count is shown separately for Map view and List view.
Minimum Preferences Required – Indicates the minimum number of availabilities you must select before you can submit your wishlist.
Maximum Preferences Allowed – Indicates the maximum number of availabilities you can select for this wishlist.
A toggle that allows you to:
- Show only the preferences you’ve already selected
Using Map View
In Map View:
- This is the default view, and the map opens at the centre of your school location. You can zoom in and out to interact with the map
- Each availability appears as a location pin on the map; the pins are clickable, which show the details of availability at that location
- A summary card appears on the left side of the screen, which, on click, opens the availability details in a modal view
You can add a preference in either of the following ways:
Select Add to Preferences directly from the availability card
Select a map pin → choose View Details, then Add to Preferences
Using List View
In List View:
- Each availability appears as a row in a scrollable list
- Each row displays the site name, availability name, location, and specialisation details
You can add a preference in either of the following ways:
Select the plus (+) icon directly from the availability row
Select the availability row → the Availability Details panel opens → choose Add to Preferences
Once you’ve added your preferences, select Next to continue.
Step 2: Rank Preferences
In this step, you prioritise the opportunities you selected.
Ranking Options
You can arrange your selected preferences in order of priority using the following options:
- Drag and drop preferences using the drag handle (six-dot icon) on the left side of each availability
- Use the arrow controls next to each preference to move it up or down in the list
- Remove a preference using the delete (trash) icon on the right, if needed
Helpful indicators on this screen:
- The header shows how many preferences you have selected (for example, Selected Preferences 2/20)
- A message indicates how many more availabilities you can still add, if applicable
Rank 1 represents your highest preference.
Once you are satisfied with the order, select Review and Submit to continue.
Adding a Reason for Selection (Optional)
For each preference, you can optionally add a Reason for Selection, explaining:
- Why this opportunity is a good fit
- How it aligns with your learning goals
This information is visible to your school during review.
Step 3: Review and Submit
In the final step, you review your submission before sending it.
You’ll see:
- A summary of your selected and ranked preferences
- Any reasons you added for your selections
Attestation and Submission
To submit:
- Review all preferences carefully
- Check the attestation confirming that you understand:
- You cannot make changes after submission
- Select Submit Wishlist
Once submitted:
- The wishlist status updates to Submitted
- You can view your submission from the My Wishlist page
Note: If you try to leave the wishlist with unsaved changes, you’ll be prompted to Save and Exit or Exit Without Saving.
After Submission
After submission:
- Your school reviews all student preferences once the wishlist window closes
- Schools use these preferences to request placements from clinical sites
- You can track placement outcomes later through My Schedules
Key Things to Remember
- You can save your progress and return later before submitting the wishlist.
- Once the wishlist is submitted, preferences can be viewed but not edited.
- Ranking order matters; Rank 1 represents your highest preference.
- You can reorder preferences using the drag handle (dots) on the left or the arrow controls.
- Preferences can be removed using the delete option on the right.
- You may explore and select opportunities using either Map View or List View.
